I haven’t told you about this yet, but…

Comic that I made as part of a social media campaign initiated by women and non-binary Hungarian comic artists for International Women’s Day. We each depicted a real-world account of sexism and gender-based violence to highlight the urgency of the issue in Hungary and globally as well.

Original caption (instagram):

I haven't told you this yet! Maybe it happened to me, maybe to someone else, but it might as well have happened to me. As a Hungarian woman it isn't difficult to collect such stories. Usually the real challenge is keeping it to ourselves, to act like everything's fine. We, a group of women and non-binary comic artists will tell some of them today, collected into a Women's Day bouquet, for you all to read. Our stories are diverse, they come from different ends of the scale of gender-based violence. Besides the flowers, we would like to ask for the end of patriarchy, for gender-based violence and oppression to stop, or at least for the legal status of Hungarian women to improve. But until then, if you yourself would like to do something to achieve this, then we ask you to listen to women's stories, even when they are not a part of a pretty comic. [phone nr of Hungarian helpline for women facing abuse: 06 80 505 101] The comic is a part of a series, look for others in my stories and in the reshare section!
